Outlander’s Scotland

The Jacobite rebellion beckons on this tour of Scotland’s nooks and crannies! Explore Outlander’s stunning filming locations, walk in the footsteps of history, and revel in Scottish traditions.

Day 1 – Welcome to Bonnie Scotland

Arrive into Glasgow Airport, and prepare to be swept back in time. Enjoy a coach tour of Glasgow, including entrance to Outlander’s L’Hopital Des Anges (Glasgow Cathedral). In the evening, tuck into a hearty 3-course welcome dinner.

Day 2 – Castle Leoch

Siege some romantic castles as you head North. Step inside the courtroom where Claire and Geillis stood accused of witchcraft. Stroll around Doune Castle’s (Castle Leoch’s) grounds. Finally, raise a toast during an exclusive evening visit to Drummond Castle, where wine will be served.

Day 3 – Journey to the Highlands

Scotland’s stunning Highlands await. Depart your Pitlochry-area hotel and head past lochs and glens to Inverness. En route, the Highland Folk Museum provides much entertainment and authentic Outlander filming locations.

Day 4 – The Battle Joined

The atmospheric Culloden Battlefield kicks off your day, before some true Highland beauty spots. Take the Jacobite walking trail to the Bronze-age Clava Cairns. Explore ancient Beauly Priory – the scene of Claire’s encounter with the seer. Cap off the day with a cruise across gorgeous Loch Ness, calling at Urquhart Castle on its shores.

Day 5 – Culross and Falkland

Head South to Edinburgh, breaking up the journey with some thrilling Outlander locales. First, the romantic ruin of Elgin Cathedral makes for a wonderful photo opportunity. Culross Palace stood in for an eighteenth-century Scottish town, whilst Falkland Palace played host to the very first 1940s scenes.

Day 6 –  Paris in Scotland

Thankfully, you won’t have to cross the channel to find Claire’s elegant Parisian apartment. It’s found just north of Edinburgh, at the beautiful Hopetoun House.  You’ll visit this along with Midhope Castle (the Fraser’s ‘Lallybroch’) and Blackness Castle (Outlander’s Fort William).

Day 7 – The Jacobites’ Edinburgh

Uncover the capital’s Jacobite connections on your last full day. Take a guided stroll up the Royal Mile, and discover Bonnie Prince Charlie’s stronghold at the Palace of Holyroodhouse. Round off your tour with a Traditional Scottish Dinner and Show, replete with music and dancing.

Day 8 – Haste Ye Back!

Having soaked in Outlander’s atmosphere, return to the modern world and bid a fond farewell to Scotland’s unique beauty.
